Pfc Charles J. Grasso was employed by Birge's Wallpaper when he enlisted in Buffalo, New York on 5 September 1941.

In November 1943, in Italy, he was wounded by artillery shell fragments in the thigh.

He was awarded a Silver Star for his actions on 7 November 1943.
