Pfc Clarence A. Prochnow graduated from Garfield High School and was employed at the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. and later at Armour & Co.

He enlisted in Akron, Ohio on 6 February 1943.

Mrs. Mary Prochnow did not even know her husband had arrived in Europe, when the telegram came announcing his death on 27 January.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Foy, Belgium.
