Cpl James B. Porter left Vilas High School to enlist on 10 February 1943 in Manchester, New Hampshire.He was killed by artillery shell fragments which hit him in the chest.
Cpl Porter is remembered at Upper Langdon Cemetery in Langdon, Sullivan County, New Hampshire with a memorial marker.
