The family lived in lower Manhattan, near Greenwich Village, before moving to Staten Island.Pvt Louis J. Da Saro was employed at Elko Shipyards and was the least likely of the boys to get into fights; he was a gentle soul. His oldest brother, Mike, help to raise him and his siblings after their father died.
