Pfc Marvin O. Lackey graduated from Lawsonville High School and worked on the family farm before he enlisted at Camp Croft, South Carolina on 16 December 1943. He was sent overseas in July 1944.On 25 November he was reported seriously wounded in action and was evacuated to the 60th Field Hospital where he died of his wounds on 27 November. He was wounded in the colon sigmoid by artillery shell fragments. At the time, the 60th Field Hospital was stationed near Thionville, France.
