On 2 April 1945, L Company, 318th Infantry, in which Alejandro was a squad leader, was cleaning out a town in western Germany of the enemy. During the action Alejandro was fatally wounded. He was indentified by a member of his company.
Pfc Garza was the first young man from the community of La Paloma to die in WWII.
