Pvt Harry R. De Haan attended Union High School in Grand Rapids, Michigan and later worked in a laundry.

In 1940 he was an inmate of the West Palm Beach City Jail.

He enlisted in Seattle, Washington on 19 February 1944.

He was reported missing in action on 9 November 1944 and declared officially dead one day and one year later.
