Pvt Irwin L. Juengel was employed as a production worker at Crunden Martin Manufacturing Co. before he enlisted at Jefferson Barracks, Missouri on 21 October 1943.

He was seriously wounded in action on 10 September when his unit was holding positions in the vicinity of Saizerais and the Forêt del’Avant Garde near Pompey, France.
