More information

T/Sgt Loren D. Feese enlisted at Fort MacArthur, San Pedro, California on 19 May 1944.

He graduated from Liberal High School in May 1943 when he was 17 years old.

He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal posthumously. The citation reads: During an assault near Niedersweren, Germany, on 2 April 1945, an enemy force of twelve tanks and one hundred infantrymen had attacked the rear installations and were retreating. T/Sgt Feese and four comrades stationed themselves in a house along the expected route of withdrawal and, waiting until the enemy was but fifty yards from the building, opened fire, and by moving from window to window confused them as to the size of the opposition. T/Sgt Feese, firing a light machine gun, aided immeasurably in killing seven, wounding several, and capturing fifty of the enemy."

He is remembered at the Liberal Cemetery in Liberal, Seward County, Kansas.
