Pvt Carmine J. Donnarumma attended two years of high school and was a longshoreman before he enlisted in New York City, New York on 5 September 1944.

He was brought to the 35th Evacuation Hospital that was operating in the buildings of the Ecole Primaire de Bonnevoie, where he died of wounds at his humerus shaft, caused by artillery shell fragments. He was treated with a penicillin therapy.
