Pvt Thurman O. Billings was a factory worker, employed at the Brown-Williamson Tobacco Company before he enlisted at Fort Bragg, North Carolina on 18 March 1944.
He was reported seriously wounded in action on 9 November. At that moment his battalion was engaged in the fighting between Mailly-sur-Seille and the Raucourt-Nomeny highway, towards the Bois de Seigneur.
