Pfc Lawton W. Haynes Jr attended high school for one year and was employed at the Oberjuerge Service Station before he enlisted on 30 June 1942.

In February 1944 he was treated in a hospital for a lumbosacral injury and later in June 1944 for a perforated appendicitis.

Lawton was killed by artillery shell fragments in the side of his body.
