Pvt Joe D. Johnson attended high school for two years and worked on the family farm before he enlisted at Fort Sill, Oklahoma on 2 May 1944. He was sent overseas in September 1944.He was reported seriously wounded in action on 26 December when G Company was starting to attack from Chaumont, Belgium in the direction of Bastogne.
He was killed by small arms fire wounding the intestines and neck.
