Pvt Rufus R. Rushing worked on the family farm before he enlisted at Fort McPherson in Atlanta, Georgia on 17 May 1944.

He was reported seriously wounded in action and evacuated to the 101th Evacuation Hospital in Colmar-Berg on 10 February when M Company was engaged with the enemy Northwest of Beaufort, Luxembourg.

He died of his wounds, caused by fractures of the parietal bone and the maxilla superior by artillery shell fragments.
