Pvt Arthur R. Sprague attended high school for two years and was a construction worker before he enlisted at Fort MacArthur, San Pedro, California on 1 March 1944.

On 12 November he was reported seriously wounded in action when M Company crossed the Nied river at Saint-Epvre in France.
