Pvt Joe C. Pemberton joined the Regular Army at Fort McPherson, Atlanta Georgia on 26 November 1940.He was married to Essie M. Johnson on 13 March 1941.
Pvt Pemberton was reported taken prisoner of war on 19 August 1944 when M Company was engaged in the fighting in the vicinity of Argentan, France.
He was held prisoner at Stalag VII-A.
