Sgt Matthew J. Lysarz attended Hammond Tech and was employed at the American Steel Foundries in Indiana Harbor.

He enlisted in Indianapolis, Indiana on 2 July 1942 and received his basic training at Camp Forest, Tennessee

He was promoted ot sergeant while overseas.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Foy, Belgium.
