Pfc James Elliott was raised by his grandparents and attended Allentown High school and was employed by Bethlehem Steel Company.

He enlisted in Allentown, Pennsylvania on 15 October 1942. He was sent overseas on 6 December 1944.

He was killed by artillery shell fragments in the thorax.
