Pvt Kaukoo K. Haapalainen was a machine operator, employed by the Norton Co. before he enlisted at Fort Devens, Massachusetts on 13 August 1943. He was severely wounded by bullets in the abdomen and thumb. He was brought to the 65th Field Hospital in Ettelbruck, Luxembourg where he died of his wounds.
