1st Lt Duncan R. Miller was vice-president of the Standard Enamel and Paint Corporation.

He held a reserve commission from Culver Military Academy, from which he was graduated in 1928. He began active military service on September 30, 1941. And was stationed at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Atlanta, Georgia and Fort Riley, Kansas before he was assigned to overseas duty in December 1944.
