Pvt Richard H. Nelson enlisted at Fort Snelling, Minnesota on 25 May 1944.He worked on a farm before he enlisted.
His brother, Pvt Maynard A. Nelson served with the 17th Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division and was killed in action on December 8, 1944 in the Philippines.
Pvt Richard H. Nelson was first buried at Temporary American Military Cemetery Henri-Chapelle, Belgium Block BBB, Row 1, Grave 15.
