Pfc Elias E. Korn attended Washington and Broughal Junior High Schools and worked in the production of clay products.

He enlisted in Allentown, Pennsylvania on 21 December 1942 and trained at Fort Myers, Virginia, Fort Bragg, North Carolina and Fort Meade, Maryland, before going to France in September 1944.

His brother, Sgt. Emmanuel Jr., also served in the European Theater of Operations.
