T/5 Raymond O. Davis lived with an uncle and an aunt on a farm.

He graduated from Altoona High School with the class of 1934 and, unable to find employment locally went to work on the Davis farm in Indiana County.

He enlisted at Fort George G. Meade, Maryland on 17 February 1942.
