1st Lt Frank Gaunt enlisted in Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana on 19 January 1942.He was a graduate of Portland High School with the class of 1936 and was employed at the Sheller Manufacturing Corporation before his enlistment. On August, 1942, he was married to Lt Dorothy Leigh.
He had been hospitalized for wounds received in France August 31. His wife, Lt Dorothy Leigh Gaunt was also stationed in France with the medical corps and shortly after the invasion the two were stationed only about fifty miles apart in France and it is known that Lt Gaunt had visited his wife on one occasion.
He was first buried at Temporary American Military Cemetery Solers, France.
