Lt Col Prentice E. Yeomans started his career in the First Machine Gun Squadron of the 1st Cavalry Brigade at Fort Clark, Texas on 2 April 1927. He was a graduate of West Point with the class of 1926. Col Yeomans was stationed in Hawaii at the outbreak of the war.

Since he was overseas, his wife has served with the AWVS in New York.
