Pfc Willie L. Elam enlisted on 17 June 1941 in Dallas, Texas.
He was killed in his jeep, together with his best friend T/Sgt Elmer Scherrer. They were both buried at the temporary American Cemetery at Fosses-La-Ville Block L, Row 10, Grave 198 in 1947, they were given a final resting place at Henri-Chapelle.
