Pfc Hilton A. Smith enlisted at Camp Blanding, Florida on 6 March 1943.

He was killed instantly by a direct hit from an enemy anti-tank shell.

His brother, Robert J. Smith Jr., served in the Army Air Corps in the Philippines.
