Sgt George M. Hourant lived in the St. John's Home for boys in Brooklyn in 1920. In 1930 he lived at the St. Vincent's Home in Brooklyn and worked as a helper in the Electric Supply business. His mother was born in Scotland, his father in New York.He enlisted in New York City, New York on 19 November 1940. He married Ida Elizabeth Grande on 12 January 1944 in Brooklyn.
Sgt Hourant worked on a farm before he enlisted and lived at the resident of Edward and Dorothy Nelson and their children in Argyle, NY.
