Pvt Robert R. Van Wart graduated from Boston Technical High School with the class of 1944 and enlisted at Fort Banks, Boston, Massachusetts on 21 October 1944.Pvt Van Wart was riding as a passenger in a tank which was being driven out to be washed. While crossing a stream, the bridge gave away, the tank overturned and fell into the stream. He was crushed beneath it and was killed instantly.
