Pvt Marshall H. Ross attended Hempstead High Schoo and was employed as a machinist for six years at the Grumman Aircraft Company in Bethpage, Long Island before he enlisted at Camp Upton, New York on 29 May 1944.

He was killed by artillery shell fragments to his head.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Limey, France.
