More information

Sgt Leonard J. Roguski attended college for 2 years and was an insurance salesman before he enlisted in Boston, Massachusetts on 7 March 1941.
He was taken prisoner on 31 December 1944. At that time his unit was fighting in the vicinity of Bonnal and Bavigne, Luxembourg. He was wounded and his right leg was amputated as high as his thigh. He was also injured on his left thigh by shell-splinters and was shot in the peritoneum. On 9 January 1945 he arrived in an German army-hospital with his amputation-wound looking badly. A lot of small bone-sequester were shown at the thigh-bone by an x-ray picture. In getting no better of the common condition and stump-wound, he was taken for an after-amputation. A transfusion of blood was made but, nevertheless his condition was going on more badly and on 29 January at 0730 he died.
