S/Sgt Lawrence Flinn was a graduate of the University of North Carolina where he was a professor of philosophy before he enlisted at Fort Bragg, North Carolina on 27 November 1943.He is also remembered at the Cedar Lawn Cemetery in East Hampton, Suffolk County, New York and in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
