Sgt Harley B. Gorby was employed by the U.S. Stamping Company before he enlisted at Fort Hayes Columbus, Ohio on 7 February 1942.

He was killed by artillery shell fragments.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Limey, France.
