Capt Arthur S. Cosgrove graduated from Shattuck Military Academy in 1936 and attended Clarke School at Hannover, New Hampshire and William and Mary College.

He was called to active duty as a second lieutenant in February 1942 and was promoted to captain in March 1944. He was sent overseas in Augustus 1944.

G Company had been ordered to move out of Moyenvic and rejoin the 2nd Battalion. During this movement while crossing the bridge, Capt Cosgrove was wounded by shell fragments and died later.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Limey, France.
