T/4 Lawrence P. Young graduated from Winthrop Senior High school and attended college. He was a sales clerk before he enlisted in Boston, Massachusetts on 21 March 1941 and was sent overseas in September 1944.

He was killed by artillery shell fragments in his back.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Limey, France.
