S/Sgt John P. Carey attended high school for two years and was a driver before he joined the National Guard in Boston, Massachusetts on 16 January 1941. He was sent overseas in August 1944.He was killed by artillery shell fragments to his leg.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Andilly, France.
