Sgt Carl G. Fulford attended high school for four years and was employed at the Little Betty Coal Mine, Linton, Indiana before he enlisted in Evansville, Indiana on 1 February 1943.

He was killed by artillery shell fragments to his buttock and hip.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Limey, France.

He is also remembered at the Fairview Cemetery in Linton, Greene County, Indiana.
