T/Sgt Augustine A. Di Pietro attended high school for three years and was a fireman when he joined the National Guard in Norwood, Massachusetts on 16 January 1941.

He was killed when he stepped on a land mine, trying to lead his platoon through a mine field.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Limey, France.

He is also remembered at the Saint Michael Cemetery in Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetss.
