Pfc Bernard O. Schultejans worked on the family farm before he enlisted at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas on 5 May 1944.
He was killed by artillery shell fragments in his chest.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Grand-Failly, France.
He is remembered at the cemetery in Kelly, Nemaha County, Kansas.
