Sgt James A. Watson attended Lincoln High School for four years and was employed by the Consolidated Water Power & Paper company before he enlisted in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on 17 August 1942. He was sent overseas in September 1944.

He was killed by artillery shell fragments.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Andilly, France.

He is remembered at the Calvary Cemetery in Wisconsin Rapids, Wood County, Wisconsin.
