Pfc Walter P. Dyjak attended college for two year and was a bookkeeper and cashier before he enlisted in Providence, Rhode Island on 3 June 1943.

He was killed by artillery shell fragments.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Limey, France.
