Pvt Pletz J. Belk attended high school for four years before he enlisted at Fort McPherson, Georgia on 12 June 1943.He was killed by artillery shell fragments.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Grand-Failly, France.
He is also remembered at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Griffin, Spalding County, Georgia.
