S/Sgt Walter H. St Amand attended high school for four years and was employed at the U.S. Rubber Co-Fisk Plant before he enlisted in Springfield, Massachusetts on 6 March 1941.He was killed by artillery shell fragments to his leg.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Limey, France.
