Sgt Henry D. Bilendy attended high school for four years and was a file clerk at the Dodge & Alcott Company.

He enlisted in Newark, New Jersey on 19 June 1943. He was selected for the Army Specialized Training Program (A.S.T.P.) and studied at Providence College.

He was killed by artillery shell fragments to his face and leg.

Sgt Bilendy was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Limey, France.
