Sgt Walter D. Bridger attended high school for two years and worked on the family farm before he enlisted in Richmond, Virginia on 17 February 1943.
He was killed by artillery shell fragments on his leg.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Andilly, France.
