Pfc Richard J. Savage was a student before he enlisted in New York City, New York on 29 June 1943. He was selected for the Army Specialized Training Program (A.S.T.P.) and studied at Providence College.He was killed by artillery shell fragments in his stomach.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemtery in Andilly, France.
