T/5 Robert E. Richards graduated from Snyder High School and worked at the Port Newark yards of the Federal Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company.

He enlisted in February 1943 and was sent overseas in October 1944.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Grand-Failly, France.
