More information

When T/5 Fouraker's squad were conducting a house-to-house fight in a German town, they entered a house to learn only a wall separated them from the enemy.
Apparently the Germans knew of their presence. An explosive charge was placed against the wall, and the Germans waited. But they waited too long! While the dust from clearing the explosion, Fouracker threw a concussion grenade and then charged. He shot one nazi and wounded a second. His action, official accounts said, saved the lives of his comrades. T/5 Fouraker was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for this action.
He died of wounds received on 11 April 1944.
