Pvt Eric B. Schwarz attended college for one year before he enlisted in Newark, New Jersey on 18 July 1944. He was sent overseas on 1 January 1945.

While a student at Montclair High School, at the age of 15, Eric organized a group of boys into a swing band known as Eric Schwarz and His Orchestra. They played regularly for dancing school classes, and also contributed their service at various public rallies for the American Legion, the Red Cross, War Bond drives, and Armistice and Memorial Day programs.

He was killed by small arms fire in the stomach.
