Pvt Donald C. Kumm joined the Regular Army on 11 July 1939, landed in Africa in December 1942, served through the African-Tunesian campaign, the invasion of Sicily, Italy. He was moved to northern Italy and then to southern France.He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Foy, Belgium.
His brother, 2nd Lt George R. Kumm, is buried on the American Military Cemetery Ardennes, Belgium.
